A growing but peaceful community with lots of nearby green space

Victoria is a fast-growing and popular area to live in. However, it has managed to maintain its peaceful, small-town feel with the community being home to about 10,000 residents. Only about 25 miles southwest of Downtown Minneapolis, the area has a slew of parks and lakes for enjoying the great outdoors. Lakefront and pond front homes can be found here as well as large estates with space for horses, and there have been a lot of recent new buildings.

Victoria is known for being a friendly and welcoming community. It’s a great place for affluent families of all ages and has some of the highest-valued real estate in Carver County. There is a pretty and historic downtown that is also a hub for local businesses and fun events, including a classic car show, art fair, and live music. The nearby walking and biking trails, boat launches, and golf courses mean there’s ample opportunity to enjoy the area’s pretty scenery too.

Victoria’s downtown is historic and a hub of local dining and shopping. Foodies will love living here and sampling the variety of local restaurants. Floyd’s Bar has a classy-but-old-school atmosphere and treats locals to casual dining. Winchester and Rye serve fine whiskey and food in its lounge. Their name is from the family history of designing custom Winchester wood carved rifle stocks on one side and distilling corn and rye whiskey on the other. They are especially celebrated for their wood-fired pizzas and meats.

The Noble Lion is a casual local eatery with a European ambiance that prides itself on the delicious food served in a neighborly setting. Cuzzy’s, a Minneapolis favorite, has a location named Victoria House here with a beautiful view of Lake Stieger. ENKI also has a terrific taproom on Lake Stieger. Finally, the Social Ice Cream Parlor is a long-running local favorite for a sweet treat.

There are some lovely antique shops in the historic downtown as well. Churchills Quality Cigars and Gifts is popular for unique gifts, and the White Birch House has lovely, custom-designed furniture.

The 1,200-acre Carver Park Reserve is nearby and is home to a historic site, nature center, campground, and bird sanctuary as well as winding trails through the forests and alongside the interconnected lakes and marshes.
